Welcome to the Games and Transgressive Aesthetics research blog!

This blog is dedicated to a research project on controversial content in games and how it is experienced by the players. This is not about game addiction, or about whether players become violent by playing digital games. Instead we treat games as a medium of expression which is equally important to other art forms, although we acknowledge that gameplay and game mechanics are important features that make them communicate to its audience in a different way than other media do.

So what can you expect to read about on this blog? We want the blog to be the project’s primary gateway to the public. We will present results from the research here, discuss concepts and philosophical aspects of the project, and comment on debates in the press that are relevant to the project. The researchers connected to the project also play games, so don’t be surprised if you find reviews and criticism here as well!
